The Dutch grid is out of room. c4micro built the full O-Nexus stack , on-device NetManager firmware that balances a home's heat pump, boiler, EV charger and solar every few hundred milliseconds, plus a custom Cumulocity IoT platform with six enterprise modules covering secure device onboarding, hierarchical provisioning, remote diagnostics, and long-term analytics.
One of the hardest problems in the Dutch energy transition is also one of the most invisible: the electricity grid is out of room. New all-electric homes need a heat pump, boiler, induction cooking and EV charging on a single connection, but in a growing number of regions the grid operator can no longer deliver the capacity.
Three trends collide on the same thin cable: all-electric new-build housing, home EV charging at 7–11 kW per car, and rooftop solar that feeds back more than the home consumes. Reinforcing the network takes five to ten years; building projects can't wait that long. O-Nexus set out to keep every home within its connection limit, in real time, without digging up the street, and without anyone noticing.

Alongside the firmware, c4micro designed and implemented a full cloud platform layer on top of Cumulocity IoT. Several business-critical workflows required capabilities that the standard platform does not provide, so we built six custom enterprise modules using Angular widgets and Node.js microservices that slot directly into the Cumulocity ecosystem.
A Dutch housing corporation could only get a 1-phase 35 A connection for 40 new social-housing units, far short of all-electric on paper. With a NetManager in each home, the units stay within their limit and coordinate so the shared neighbourhood transformer is never overloaded. The boiler dips a few degrees, the heat pump pauses for a few minutes, induction never blinks, and the resident notices nothing.
c4micro understood both the technical depth and the product intent, real-time control under serious constraints, on-device, reliable enough to run unattended for years. That combination is rare.
